I don't often write reviews, but I felt an obligation to this scanner antenna. This is great gear and I bought a second one last week (as a spare). My first lasted about EIGHT years outside in a Jeep Wrangler and a Ram 1500 pickup. Environments ranged from the cold winters of Boston to the scorching heat of Florida. It survived everything, including highway speeds. As the magnet lost some of its juice I noticed that they really love to wiggle and wiggle and detach. To fix this I bought a $5 mounting magnet to really increase that holding power. I also recommend doing this if you plan on driving this antenna on freeways while seeing the force of the wind. My antenna is connected to my Bearcat BC355N in a truck. It catches Airmen, Firemen/Cops, wx, Marines and CBs with no problem. In fact, the furthest frequency I picked up with this antenna was about 80 miles (fire alarm frequency). As I said, I had the first such antenna for about 8 years. Attached is a photo of the Wx exposure (salt, snow, car wash, heat) on the mount and magnet; However, it held up great and channel clarity was as good as day one. I needed a replacement as a magnet fell off the base. I hope the fact that I bought TWO of these is proof enough for you that they are what they are cracked up to be (without breaking the bank). Thanks very much!
