Practice Paper

I am new to calligraphy. I've been trying to find my hand intermittently for three years. I switched to fountain pens a few years ago. Then I saw a gentleman writing invitations to a party he was throwing; I liked the results. I did a little research and initially bought pens from Pilot and Lamy. Then I learned two things about paper. First, you need paper that absorbs ink easily, but not so much that you can get feathers (bleeding of the ink outside of the original pen stroke). Second, serration (how rough or smooth the paper is) affects how your pen moves across the paper. As with practice paper, this keeps my pen flowing smoothly on paper with no spills and minimal bleed through. For this paper I used Iroshizuku, Noodler's and J. Herbin. I love covering the front guides with a sheet to get the best angles. I love that the paper is made in the USA and is acid free. I really like this practice paper, but I'm still looking for a reasonably priced pad with a little more teeth as I enjoy my actual work on watercolor paper.
