To be honest, this lens isn't perfect. It's to be expected - it costs less than $70. On the plus side, however, it's capable of truly impressive performance that (to me) far outweighs its shortcomings. Considering the price, this is a 5 star lens. Details Pros: - Remarkable sharpness in the center of the frame, even when shooting at f2. At f4, the sharpness is incredible across most of the frame (see cons). The leaf image is a 100% crop of an image taken at f2 - the resolution is incredible. - Decent contrast wide open, improves at f2.8, peaks at f4-8. Nice deep colour. The bokeh can be a bit harsh, but you can definitely get a very shallow depth of field. A photo of pink flowers taken at f2 gives an idea of the type of bokeh and possible contrast. Amazing ability to focus at close range. It's not a macro lens, but you can get very close to your subject without any noticeable loss in image quality. - Good build quality, compact design - with caveats (again, see cons). Can be attached to the camera body without play. SEVENTY BUKSORS. Crazy.Cons:- It is capable of creating MONSTER flashes with light in or near the frame. Like one of the worst I've ever seen. BUT, you move a little and it's gone.- Extreme curves have always been soft, even to the end. I'm talking about very, very extreme angles, but it's there. I'm pretty sure the Micro 4/3 version wouldn't show this due to the smaller sensor. The barrel distortion is obvious if you plan to photograph architecture/straight lines. Not terrible and to be expected from a lens of this size/price. The build quality is good, but not outstanding. I have a little dirt on the glass, although I didn't see any effect on the image quality even at apertures up to f16. The focus ring has a VERY slightly sandy feel. The membrane does not click. preferred for video shooters but i prefer clicks. Conclusion. specific deal. The sharpness is amazing, the overall reproduction of the lens is mostly pleasant. It is well built, extremely compact and beautiful. It definitely has some flaws, but given the price, I feel like I got way more than my money's worth. Will update further as I gain experience and compare to lenses of similar focal lengths.
