Review on Fintie Keyboard Lightweight Detachable Bluetooth by Victor Houser

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Just right, just needed a few upgrades

I needed a reasonably priced case and keyboard because I was pretty stretched to get the Tab S7. Don't look at me like that, if you didn't need it in your budget you wouldn't be reading my review. This combination is suitable for those who know how to use a mouse. I can't use a mouse due to a hand injury, although I can type and use a trackpad. That makes the keyboard unacceptable to me in this case. I replaced it with a Fintie keyboard (sold separately) with an integrated trackpad and it fits perfectly in this case, unlike the keyboard that comes with this case which is too small for the case. Now I'm looking forward to much more functionality. Another issue I had was storing the stylus while using the tablet. I like to magnetically attach the pen to the side of the tablet that faces up when typing in landscape mode. In this case you can't put it there because of the big piece of plastic. It was a disappointment, but I was able to add a thin strip of metal in that spot, and now the grip fits right where I need it without distracting from the case. While I like the built-in pen storage when I carry it on the go, for those who grab the pen a lot and take notes while working, the pen storage slows things down during work but is a great protection when it's not working. Attaching it to the back of the tablet also slows things down. So when I'm working and don't need to charge my pen, the metal strip was a great idea. Found the perfect product at a hardware store. The only other downside to the case's functionality is the same as all similar cases for tablets, including official Samsung ones. He's just not stable on his knees. You need a table or desk to set it up. Well I decided to fix that too. I cut off the front of an old 3 ring binder. The portion of the case that sits under the keyboard slides into an internal pocket, and the keyboard attaches with a magnet at the top, holding the case in place on the binding. It's like a small lap table with no cushion to stabilize the body so I can hold it on my lap while working in my favorite chair. All in all, buying another Fintie keyboard was worth it. I was willing to pay up to $100 for a good keyboard and case combo and the official one was 1) too expensive and 2) didn't really protect the tablet from drops. Considering the cost of this case, the replacement fintie keyboard, and the 50 cent metal strip, I still came out for less than $65 and am very happy with the results.
