Pros: Affordable High quality Very secure You can always find a good angle with the swivel Locking mechanism works great Snaps right into place without a key Cons: Care must be taken when installing the part that stays in the laptop Important note! The laptop's plastic case has a gap between this plastic case and the inner metal frame where the Kensington lock is attached. The problem is that if you overtighten the screw the case will warp and when you install the lock if you bend it down it will pop out without a key or code. It has a solution! All you have to do is tighten the screw just to the point of resistance and no more. trust me it won't come off. As long as you don't over tighten the screw, this lock won't break when bent like other reviewers have mentioned. And even if it breaks, it's because of laptops that don't meet Kensington's recommendations, not the locks. I just can't express how much I love this product. As a student, it's great to be able to leave my laptop when I'm out for lunch in the middle of a busy library, knowing it'll be there when you get back. But first, since this is a lock, let's talk security. I had an old laptop with a Kensington lock slot, so i decided to give it a try. I installed it, pulled the lock, bent and did all I could and there was no way to pick the lock and disconnect it. And I'm not a little guy (I broke my bench press record with 300 pounds yesterday, so you get the idea). There's almost nothing you can do in a quiet library to pick the lock without alerting someone else. Hand me a hammer, and of course there isn't one, but I expect the laptop to snap before it snaps into place (the inside where the Kensington slot resides). So yes, the lock is very secure. What about rope? it is definitely very high quality. About as thick as is practical for intended use. Anything thicker and you wouldn't use it because of the inconvenience. Any thinner and I wouldn't trust him. And like all cables it can be cut, but you will definitely need a very good quality cable cutter to do this. So I would only be afraid of a professional and very determined criminal. And if that were the case, you would have lost your laptop anyway. But in any coffee shop or library, the most likely scenario would be that he would be looking for someone else to rob him, period. Conclusion: I love it and will probably buy more.
