As soon as you open the box it stinks to high heaven like it's covered in manure. Manuela's instructions state that you should expect it to smell for a few days after using it for the first time. We really stunk out of our house. I would suggest you set it up and run it in a garage or building for a few days before installing it permanently. As far as I understand there is no excuse for that. Gas release can be toxic. The second problem with this is that it's difficult to install because the cap screws they give you don't screw well to the plastic shafts they run on. They turn on about halfway and require a wrench as you can barely get your fingers across the screen to turn them. I had to use a vise and it was difficult and I still couldn't get the top nuts right. Mine is in place and working, although my house now smells like a manure pit. It's a damn bad design. I like the concept but will explore other brands before buying another one.
