Review on ๐Ÿ’ป Anker PowerConf C300: AI-Powered Full HD Webcam with Zoom Certification, Noise-Cancelling Microphones, and Low-Light Correction by Kevin Elliott

Handles difficult lighting conditions well, but resolution/clarity is below average.

This camera handles difficult lighting conditions well; either a dimly lit subject or a mix of light and dark areas in the image. This brightens and balances the lighting for a very beautiful subject. However, the FOV is too wide for a traditional webcam. At its widest setting (default), it covers a significantly larger area than any other webcam I've used at the same distance. Unfortunately, using it in the widest field of view is the only way to see 1080P resolution. Once you narrow (zoom in) the FOV or enable AI cropping, the resolution looks like a 480P webcam. I really appreciate auto-framing, which moves the frame to the center of the image, but it's not worth the terrible resolution this camera offers in what I would call a normal field of view. Also, AI Auto Framing/Tracking centers your head in the frame instead of placing it in the top third of the frame as recommended for a professional look. As a result, there is always a lot of dead space above the head in the frame. This can probably be fixed with software, but the missing permission can't. I also want to clarify that I updated the firmware on the camera to version 1.42 when I originally installed it, so all of these conclusions apply to the current version. I've also had a few times where when starting a meeting the camera wouldn't connect/reconnect to the network and I had to unplug and plug it back in. Edit: Anker contacted me and gave me a full refund! That's outstanding customer service! They also mentioned that they plan to include more field of view control (offering a narrower view) in a future version of the software. I look forward to the future of Anker's webcam product line as long as they keep up with customer feedback.
