I gave it a star because it smeared the surface of my oven a bit. Tried 3 different pads and they completely fell apart halfway through. Should have listened to the terrible reviews for the money they don't cost very well and don't work. Upgraded it to 2 stars. My kitchen worktop is old and needs to be replaced. I decided to try them on some rings and blemishes and it really helped. I was very surprised, did not expect. I think they're good in some applications, don't use a lot of water and that's why they're falling apart. But I still wouldn't buy it again.
