CCV didn't work: Spare parts

I saw other reviews and didn't believe them. The product description says OEM so I assumed high quality. The CCV arrived new, unopened. The details looked ok. CCV, hoses, gasket, screws. I installed it to specification. Started the car and within 30 seconds my 2006 Audi A4 was misfiring, the check engine light came on etc. The valve in this CCV will not open. Went to the local auto parts store and bought an OEM CCV. Installed, car runs great. So at the end of the day I paid double for the device.
