I add a bottle of this to every engine I build with a fresh camshaft, connecting rod or main bearings or new tappets/tappets. What it provides is extra zinc. Today's standard engine oils do not contain zinc, since zinc residues in the exhaust gas accumulate in catalytic converters and cause them to wear out quickly. But it is zinc that prevents the formation of scratches on rotating nodes. After running and fixing various defects, standard street car motor oils contain other additives that work great, but not when everything is new. FYI, this is why a quality racing oil will state that it is not intended for use in emission controlled vehicles. Racing oils generally contain enough zinc to prevent foaming and provide excellent lubrication at high speeds and high loads. Race cars don't have emissions controls so they work great. Great stuff from Redline, I only use Redline and Mobil 1.
