This pair had a slight design flaw as part of the tongue fabric was folded back and sewn in place, but I was able to cut it open without damaging the stitching. I wore Salomon sneakers. Per. over a decade. With every new pair I buy, you can see that the company has come up with creative new ways to solve problems, and it's always interesting to see how they wear out over time. This pair has attempted to get rid of the eyelets for the laces. (among many other innovations). I've worn several iterations of laces. and with these shoes, it was the choice of material that mattered. Hopefully Solomon has learned from these iterations and this pair lasts a few years.
