I've had my Cuisinart blender for over a decade now and when this part wore out I decided it would be better to replace the part than the whole blender. I was a bit disappointed in finding out the part had been taken down. I made a lot of smoothies and when I poured the mixture into jars I saw black pieces of plastic in the mixture. We salvaged the hard black plastic parts and then after a little detective work found that the part holding the blades was worn out. and could no longer secure the blades. I was happy to learn that these parts can be bought online and cost about half of what the guys at Cuisinart were asking for. For about ten dollars and a three day wait, I got a replacement part and my husband assembled it for me in about five minutes. The next morning I tried another batch of smoothies and was rewarded with sharper blades and faster, smoother smoothies. This new knife crushes ice cubes and frozen strawberries in just six seconds! Pineapple chunks and bananas easily transform into gooey berry mix in another two seconds. I am really impressed with the new life my blender has now and would recommend trying this replacement part out before throwing the whole unit in the trash. The item was shipped very quickly and carefully packaged. And even with instructions!
