Review on ISi Professional Stainless Replacement Decorator by Erin Brown

Functional

OK, my first major complaint. For the price of these iSi mallets they should all come with these tips. For real. These are good devices, but their cost is too high compared to competitors. To make the transaction easier, these tips would help deal with the initial purchase price shock. The advice itself is phenomenal. They are much easier to put on and take off than plastic/nylon shoes. They are also easier to clean (plastic is better at retaining fat in food). They are simply washed without the use of a brush such as plastic. I have a one pint dessert cream whisk that came with crappy white plastic tips. They go on easily enough, but often they just swirl and swirl when I try to take them off to clean. I sometimes use needle nose pliers to grip the head valve so it doesn't rotate when I remove the tip for cleaning. The bases of the plastic tips begin to crack. I understand why other reviewers claim that the threads inevitably break, the material is too soft. Therefore, iSi plans that most customers will buy more expensive stainless steel tips. This is not good. Interestingly, they must be washed in WARM water. The instructions specifically state that hot water should not be used. No problem, but are they dishwasher safe but still warn about warm water? Finally my second complaint, mine was dirty. They were all packaged in a clear plastic tray that looked sealed to me BUT the tip of the tulip had some dried cream residue on the inside of one of the petals. Pooh. I cleaned it, I would have anyway, but I really shouldn't have cleaned old food from a product with a price and it said 'new'.
