The only choice to replace the handle
These ladders have plastic handle latches. Needless to say, the plastic part is pretty easy to wrinkle. (black part in the drawing). After spending some time trying to find a replacement, I discovered that this entire kit is the only parts available. I didn't need a lock and all so I had to shell out over $30 for a plastic handle. At least the ladder is working again and I have a spare lock in case they ever fail. If I had a lathe, I'd probably turn one of those metal handles so it doesn't get crushed so easily.
