So I bought a new bike and gave my son my old Trek as a gift. He's 13 years old and of course all his previous bikes have footpegs. I tried to explain to him that most of these bikes don't have a side stand. But knowing he could use a kickstand so he didn't drop his bike every time he got off it, I decided to install it. It works great and it's not that difficult to install. I had to place it on the left because there was a switch on the right. It's a bit tight in the pedals, but I couldn't push it much further because of the disc brake. So far he hasn't had any problems. It was easy for me to install and adjust the height. I could imagine he could flip over and wreak havoc if he started jumping on his bike, but for now he just loves to ride and doesn't get out of control. Before I installed this and after I gave him the bike he had a bad crash on the hill, luckily it was soft grass and he wasn't hurt. That calmed him down and slowed him down a bit. If it becomes a problem we can always remove it, but for now it's doing the job.
