Pretty standard 10 inch hard plastic water filter housing. This model comes without a filter, but usually the one that comes with it is cheap. The price is great though - it was no secret how soft the plastic was around the pipe threads. I don't know how long it will last, but during installation and with teflon tape - there were no leaks at the connectors. After installing and turning the water back on, the red button popped out, releasing air/pressure from the filter and the water started leaking out where it was. After turning off the water and disassembling it was easy to put back together but at that moment I really didn't trust this device. I wish they had something in this price range without the pressure release button. Took everything apart and reluctantly bought a more expensive model. Worth a try, but I can't risk a leak!
