In my 15" above ground pool I put it in the skimmer with the skimmer basket upside down to keep the UV tube down as they float then I set the UV timer to 6am and the pump set to 6am and the next day I vacuumed all the dead algae off the bottom of the pool, another use is to put it in smelly shoes for a few hours to kill the fungus and the bad shoe odor it causes, but do not look near the lamp or leave it on as it can blind and burn you. So be extra careful with all UV lamps.
