. When the cable is opened to connect the ends together, the dials must be adjusted to the combination. This is typical for locks of this type. However, the combination wheels on this lock turn too easily. So when you lock the bike any light contact with anything else will dislodge the code dials and you won't be able to plug in the other end of the cable until you reattach the dials. The same thing happens after the bike is unlocked when you flip the lock to remove it. If something is touching the dials lightly, you will need to reinstall the combination dials so you can insert the other end of the cable. My old kryptonite combination dials had more friction and that never happened.
