Now I'm done with aligners and permanent retainers. They are snug fitting and lightly touch the gums. The Pultool has a pretty good arc from the shank to the end of the instrument and eventually you have to pierce the gum a bit to hook the edge of the mounts and once you've done that the instrument pulls down the sides of the mount. If anything, it twists the mount enough to make it harder to remove. I understand that any dental or medical equipment has a higher price tag, but that's just stupid expensive. I'm pretty sure these things are made for less than a dollar, so I didn't give them at least two or three stars for their effort.
