I shoot with a Mamiya c220 TLR and the way the film is loaded and taken causes the negatives to flow down the film rather than across it (as it would with a regular 35mm lens or rangefinder on the case would be). These sheets allow me to quickly view my slides and negatives with the correct orientation when viewing negative folders. It also helps create properly aligned contact lists. The only downside is that scanning film from four negatives creates negatives that won't fit in a regular film scanner. It's not a big deal, but it's a minor inconvenience.
