I used these machines for training. I've made 3 caps so far. Larger pens are easier to start with than thinner pens because there are fewer pens. Machine quality is good. I haven't tried topper makers because they didn't come with instructions so I'm not sure of their quality. I went to a craft store and snapped a photo of another brand's instruction manual. I'm still wondering if I have to deal with the hassle of sending the kit back. I am most annoyed with this set of looms because there are two looms, which are simple numbered pins, making them impossible to use for vertical patterns. These machines are perfect for horizontal patterns. Basically, the back of your hat is taken off with an extra stitch, which might not be as noticeable when using a lighter weight yarn or perhaps to create a ribbed brim, but will stand out if you want to complete the pattern. Cap. Right now I'm looking for a large loom (best for adults) and a kid size loom (best for toddlers and maybe preschoolers) with straight pins. The baby loom and medium loom are great for small heads (e.g. 6 to 11 years old) and babies (for newborns) and are made with an even number of pins. The hats are much smaller than the size of the loom would suggest. In addition, hats are quick to knit. It takes about a day to figure out how to do this.
