The wire/the Medal on it is very flexible. I put the plastic backs behind the metal backs so they wouldn't nudge me while I slept. They were VERY difficult to remove after a few months of wearing, causing the earrings to deteriorate due to the flexibility of the metal. I couldn't reshape them properly.
