I was wary of buying because of the bad reviews, but my Beagle, who can jump over the back seat of my 15 Ford Explorer, isn't exactly Cujo. He kind of got over the seat if he stayed in the car for a long time. I didn't need anything military grade and that helps. It took me about 7 minutes to assemble, but that was because I didn't drive the long poles into the side rails tight enough. You literally have to pound them in cement to complete step 1 of the guide. After that everything was easy. This item does exactly what I need. Issues some might have is that the struts should fit snugly against the top and bottom of the car and not tilt at all. The side bars will stretch in length and for me they were solid. Great overall value.
