A few tips for installation

Before purchasing I read reviews complaining about not being able to find the wires to tie. I'm still glad I made the purchase. Finding the right cable set was the hardest part of this setup. All I can say is read the online forums for your specific truck model before you buy. If you're not willing to do the research, pay someone to do it. I installed this on my 2011 F150 SuperCrew and now it works perfectly. However, it took a little work on my end aside from basic screw connections and running wires. I tied the included wiring harness to the front passenger door lock wires so I could set the rear door lock to only unlock when the key fob was pressed a second time. The two wires used are under the protection plate and are purple with a gray stripe and gray with a brown stripe. The people at Pop&Lock cannot offer a color variant for every single truck, as the manufacturer can use any color at any time. Of course, most trucks of the same make/model should have the same wiring harness, but it has been shown that this is not always the case. After installing it, I found that the actuator was not always moving the locking mechanism to the unlocked position. It felt like my crank mechanism needed lubrication or a stronger drive to make the transition. I lubricated the handle mechanism, but that didn't help. It turned out that the actuator was not perfectly aligned. The mount turned out to be at a slight angle to the truck cab. I could have caused this during the installation and bolting process, or it could just be the weight of the unit pulling slightly and causing tension. To solve this problem, I cut a piece of pool noodle (foam) about 2 inches long and carefully tucked it under the drive bracket (tailgate in the down position). It fits snugly and the mount presses hard against the foam. also muted the block a bit. Now it works every time. I am very satisfied with this truck mod. During my research, I found that you can purchase a replacement drive (without wiring and brackets) for just a few dollars here at Revain. If you ever get one, everything will be needed.
