I replaced the bonnet of a 43 year old caravan because I never got to use it as the exhaust fan exhaust flap never worked and the vent was north facing; Direction we get all our extreme cold and winter winds from so I closed the vent. If I didn't keep the cupboards upstairs open in the winter, the cooking oil would freeze. Despite constant cleansing, fat kept building up until I couldn't take it anymore. I wasn't aware they made a line of non-vented hoods until I started looking for a new hood. Since the edge of the cabinet is slightly lower than the actual base of the cabinet, I had to use 3/4" thick plywood (2 pieces 2" x 11") as "grommets" on both ends to align the hood I attached them to the bottom of the cabinet and then using shorter screws attached the hood to the plywood I used styrofoam insulation and tape to cover the original vent The fan is very quiet and I could feel the difference at low and high speeds although both weren't really strong.I haven't had to use a fan yet as I haven't used a stove to cook greasy food in the hot weather we're still having.I like white brushed aluminum verses original hood;it looks getting lighter and lighter and should wash easier after each cleaning.I installed this myself and the only time it would be handy to have help was when I ho wanted to lift and attach to a closet - I'm just over 5ft tall, I'm of retirement age, but I made a few of props to support the back and other sides by attaching the first side. There are only two colored wires (white and black) you just need to connect the original white and black wires and then connect the ground wire to the green screw. There is a plate covering the wires which are held in place by a small black screw. There are 4 short screws to attach the hood (but I used longer and wider threaded screws).
