This blender is fine. I'm sure I would have enjoyed it more if I hadn't previously owned an amazing Braun blender that has worked great for over 10 years (but unfortunately is no longer made). I have used this Easter blender 15 times so far to make frozen fruit smoothies and grind grains. Some pros and cons of the Oster Reverse Crush Blender: PROS: The ability to have the blades move in either direction is definitely useful. However, it would be nice if this feature was available in other ways besides using the Frozen Drinks and Food Chopping modes. This blender can blend whole grains and does a good job in food chop mode. The grains definitely don't grind as finely as my old Braun blender and they take a little longer to grind. The Frozen Drinks mode is great for blending smoothies. I usually find it best to start with this setting and then switch to Low or Medium to finish blending the smoothie. CONS: This mixer is very noisy when set to high. I know all blenders are loud but this one is very, very loud. The size markings on the glass jar are on the inside of the jar. This makes cleaning difficult as the inside of the glass is not smooth. The spout of the glass jug is shaped too wide. If I pour something very thick, it can spill because the glass doesn't direct it into a narrow enough area. I first noticed this when trying to put ground beans in wide-necked jars.
