This is actually an OEM. Many of us know this when you use your GPS regularly and hide it in the glove compartment or somewhere else; The power cord tends to break at key connection points. Some of us tend to wrap the cable around the storage device. This is my second GPS model that has had a power adapter replaced as it will not charge the device. If you need a replacement and are unsure about buying a generic; This will get the job done just like the original. If your device is under warranty (and you can add another year for FREE on the MiTAC website if you are an AAA member!), MiTEC will send you another device for free. I emailed them shortly after purchase and within a week I had a replacement through MiTEC. I now have 2 cables which is probably a good thing considering a lot of us buy spares. Do not be lazy and keep the power cord in a safe place without connecting it to the device.
