Review on Park Tool Professional Wheel Truing Stand, Blue: Premier Precision for Perfect Wheel Alignment by Moe Gilbert

Revainrating 5 out of 5

There were initial problems but these were quickly more than adequately resolved Park Tool

on the right hand side shown in Figures 2-4. I also notice that every time I move my arm in and then out, it needs to be re-centered. While I'm sure I can do a better job with this tripod than the $50 Dressing tripod I used, it's not exactly the tool I expected at $223 plus 65 dollars per tool would cost. centering gauge and $32 for the base. Also, as you can see in the 5th picture, it looks like one of the white plastic bushings is already broken. UPDATE: I eventually found that the struts moved left and right in the same direction, which nullified any calibration I had done, and that the struts moved that way because of the two rings preventing this movement should, were not sufficiently spaced apart. I tried to put the rings back on but couldn't because the capscrews holding them in place were too tight for me to turn (I ripped off the hex screwdriver trying). When I contacted Park Tool and told them about the situation, they sent me a box to put the stand in and ship it back to them. They offered to replace the stand but I said I scratched the paint so I'd be happy if they just laid out the clamps correctly. They sent a brand new stand, assembled correctly. All of this was done for me for free. I am grateful to Mark from Customer Service and Calvin from Technical Support for looking after me so well. Now the stand stays centered after calibration and allows me to do an excellent job of trueing the wheels. I have changed my rating from 3 to 5 stars.

Pros
  • Calipers and caliper arm are spring loaded to prevent binding
Cons
  • Availability for replacement
