I bought two of these to monitor my solar generator battery voltage. It offers a clear, bright display that lets me know (at a glance) the status of my system (battery controlled). It's very bright at night to the point where it can be over the top, but I like it. The one I bought uses a 2-wire configuration (i.e. no alternate source is required for this thing to work, just wire it to whatever you want to control). The panel mount configuration requires a rectangular hole, which I found difficult to cut in the hard plastic junction box door it mounts to. At each end of the meter (behind the faceplate) is an "ear" that holds the meter in place as it slides past the mounting surface. Again, cutting out a hole for the gauge and a notch for each of its two "ears" will take some patience, but will give an excellent result. Go slow, do it right - great results.
