A headphone that features an unusual balance of benefits and drawbacks in its design. The sound for games (and positioning) is adequate, but when listening to music, even someone who does not particularly enjoy music will be able to hear issues with the frequency range that are caused by the ineffective equalizer that is included in the proprietary SSE3 software. The application that the manufacturer provides appears, at first glance, to have a large number of settings; however, in practice, these settings are insufficient for a headset that is marketed toward the medium-to-high price range (it is merely an equalizer; the presets are limited, and you are unable to save your own); this is because the equalizer is not customizable. There are also concerns regarding soundproofing. When using this headset, there is a sensation of "sitting in a barrel" due to the excessive isolation of the user from the sounds of the surrounding environment (including from his own voice, which is unacceptable for the headset), but at the same time, the sound leakage to the outside even at 25% of the volume is such that everyone around you will know that you are listening to something. Your voice will come through incredibly clear thanks to the high-quality noise-cancelling microphone that effectively eliminates any and all ambient noise, leaving only your voice in its place. The ear cushions are very comfortable, have a great fit, do not put any pressure on the ears, and are made of a very pliable and pleasant-feeling material. Even extremely large ears can be accommodated within the cup due to its generous dimensions in both diameter and depth. The fact that the headband has no adjustments other than a fabric band makes it initially uncomfortable, but this should be sufficient for the vast majority of people's head sizes. When I started using it, it was obvious that Steelseries had cheated with it, which was disappointing because the ChatMix regulator was one of the features that swayed my decision to purchase it. The handle can be turned with very little effort, and the remote itself sits awkwardly on the table and moves around easily whenever the wire is moved. It would be nice if those buttons and adjustments, which for some reason were placed on the left cup of the headset, could be moved to the right cup of this one instead. There is no way to adjust the settings because there are no controls on the left ear cup. In my opinion, the volume wheel is not durable, and it is highly unlikely that it will last for a long time even with consistent use. In addition, it is situated directly under the fingers of your left hand, which is the hand that you will use to take the headset in order to put it on. The fact that the button to mute the microphone is recessed so deeply into the case makes it extremely inconvenient to use.
