I imagined the installation to be much more difficult. 2005 Silverado.with JVC stereo. It looks like a lot of work because there are about 12 wires. I think I only had to use 4. One for consistent performance. One for switched power supplies. One for the earth. And the one that goes to orange (for this model) I soldered to ground, 2 power wires and pink to orange (for Silverado). After that, connect the cable with the 3.5mm plug directly to the main unit. Their website tells you which communication cable to use, pink in my case, and the connection cable, orange in my case. The website had a recent photo of my plug in the dashboard with an arrow pointing to the pin's location. orange cable to connect. You should also download a .pdf file showing the LED codes and some troubleshooting options. Programming is pretty easy. Turn the key according to position, press the reset button on the small brain box and watch the blinking LED. If connected correctly, the first series of flashes will show you which communication cable is connected (pink in my case). Series 2 says which stereo it finds. When the stereo display is correct, press the volume up button. If the volume increases, you're done. In my case it was always said I have a Kenwood head, but I have a JVC head. It's basically an error code telling you it can't find your stereo. Instead of connecting the 3.5mm jack directly to the main unit, jvc requires you to hard-wire the 3.5mm adapter (included) to the main unit and connect to that. After that it worked perfectly. Also included is an extra green wire which is used to connect the head unit to the parking brake system so you can watch DVD, YouTube or any other video of your choice with the parking brake on if your head unit allows it. This is to ensure that the video can only be played when the vehicle is stationary. All in all it was a great purchase, it's nice to be able to use the steering wheel controls again. As tedious and time-consuming as it sounds, installation is actually quite simple.
