I guess most people use this to string lights from. I use this cable for a variety of other reasons. There are a number of things that must be semi-attached to other things in order to make them function. Think about a chuck key for a drill press. Without the key, the drill press is all but useless, but the attachment method to keep the 2 together must allow a certain amount of movement (to loosen or tighten the chuck) while still keeping the key attached so it doesn't get lost. This, to me, is the greatest strength of this kind of cable. I drill a small hole in the chuck key and thread the cable through and then crimp the ends. The key never gets lost or otherwise removed from the drill press but there is enough slack to allow turning the key to tighten the chuck. That's just one example. If you decide to use a crimp on this cable remember to remove the coating where the crimp will be applied. One last thing. If you're not going to use all 200 feet in one go then drill 4 holes 90 degrees apart on each end of the plastic spool. You can then simply push the end of the cable into the hole (about .100 diameter) so the rest of the cable doesn't unravel and become a huge mess. See the attached picture and you'll understand.
