Review on Super Flexible Drain Brush, 48-Inch - Brushtech Extra Long by Glenna Naber

Great sink drain brush

This product works much better than expected. Some reviewers had trouble getting the brush through elbows, but I found this brush to be perfect for the job. Inserting a flexible drainage tool into the pipe and past P-siphons and elbows requires dexterity. Usually you can't just pull it off yourself. And it's not designed to clear clogged drains. My drains, like most, rise into the "P" trap and then a 90 degree bend before entering the wall. Dirt can accumulate on interior walls along the way. I was able to fit all 48 inches of this tool into my stocks. First I inserted the tool until I felt the first "obstacle" or bend in the pipe. I then started applying pressure, then rotated the wire clockwise about 90 degrees and continued to increase the pressure. The bristles only take up half of the head, making it easier to negotiate turns. Once the tool was fully in the tube, I began using short push and pull motions, turning the handle to clear the walls. I kept pouring hot water while washing. I slowly pulled the tool out of the drain a few inches at a time. When the tool was removed from the drain, I found a small amount of hair and dirt in the bristles, but most of the material washed away. And the last remark. For decades, bathroom drains have used plugs actuated by a rod near or within the faucet. This design is great for collecting hair as part of the activation wand is located in the drain pipe just below the sink. I upgraded my drains with pop up plugs. With this type of plug, the drain pipe that connects to the bottom of the sink is replaced with a new, smooth-walled pipe with no plug rod inside. My drains no longer cling to my hair. I just periodically clean the accumulated dirt.
