At first I couldn't understand why everyone was complaining. I thought they just didn't know how to use the kettle properly. After about 15 uses, as many other reviewers have said, the black lid melted. I believe this happened after we got our new stove because the flame heats a larger circle than our old stove. However, the cauldron was still far enough away that the spout lid shouldn't have melted. I love Le Creuset and am seriously disappointed in this product. I might buy it again but I can't keep it on the stovetop like I used to do with other kettles.
