I bought the black one over a year ago and I'm glad I bought it. It does a good job and I like seeing the temperature and relative humidity readings. I like the large capacity and the ion option. I also like the ability to set the humidity level (it turns off when it reaches the level you set). Easy to use. You need to remove the canister, turn it upside down, unscrew the cap, and then fill it with water. Fits perfectly under my faucet. When filled with water, however, it weighs around 15 pounds, so this may be an issue for some people, especially when it's on a counter. A can usually lasts for about 12 hours. Be sure to fill it up before bed as it will give a little signal for a while when it runs out of water. I bought two more of these a few months ago. One quenched only the whisper of steam. I called the company, explained the problem and they sent another one which arrived a few days later. No stress. The two new ones were white with clear plastic cases. The plastic is colored black. White at night is much brighter than black and we couldn't use it in the bedroom. White works well as a night light on the kitchen table. Like all devices and especially humidifiers, they need to be cleaned. Black has more limescale deposits than white.
