This set came well packaged in a thoughtful case perfect for storing rocks. I had 6 quality knives (3 German (1 Wüsthof Driezack, 2 Hoffritz) and 3 Japanese (2 Sugimoto, 1 Shun) of varying bluntness. Also, one of the Sugimoto had a couple of minor nicks on the cutting edge. No instructions, but there were a lot of great ones youtube videos that taught me everything i needed to know. this was my first attempt at using whetstones. i started with the heavier duty german blades to improve technique and then progressed to finer japanese knives. the three grit sizes of 400, 1000 and 6000 provided the perfect solution for every blade condition I was dealing with. I also liked having 3 separate stones rather than the more popular double grit stones. To sum it up in just 3 hours I had 6 blades like new, which have now all passed the scissor cut test, we recommend this inexpensive and practical sharpening set.
