Clever idea but sinfully overpriced and underpowered heater

I have a few issues with this unit but I'll start with the positives. This is probably the most realistic fake firewood set you can find. Clever idea to project the flame onto a transparent plastic pane. The flame looks real, but if there are other light sources in the room you will see a flame on the sign and then it will look fake. For the price, it should have some sort of built-in sound that mimics the crackling of a fire - I bought (separately) the "Comfort Smart Fire Crackler Device" and it's complete rubbish. So for the price of this magazine set it should have sound too. And since this device is also a "heater" it is terribly weak. It has two settings, low and high, and when it's on you can hear the fan (another reason it would be nice to simulate the crackle of a fire) but you have to literally almost stand on top of the unit to get yourself to feel warm . I have no idea how efficient (or inefficient) this thing is because it's a 120V wallbox with 1500 BTUs. And finally, the burning smoldering bed as an add-on (DIMPLEX REVILLUSION electric fireplace) must be 100% included in the firewood package. Not the second thing you should buy for $85! It's literally a piece of vacuum formed plastic with LEDs inside and a cardboard bottom. I feel like an idiot for spending so much money on all of this. This fake fireplace log cost me $400! And it gives off almost no heat, so only visually!

Pros
  • great product
Cons
  • not as good as it says
