Maybe it works in non-rural areas?

The lamp looks good, turns on, is easy to use and in general I think it will be enough in an ordinary city or suburb. I bought it for a house in the middle of 10 acres of woods. I have a HUGE amount of bugs but the mosquitoes have been crazy this season so I expected this lamp would allow me to be on the porch without being eaten alive. The problem is that once a medium-sized bug is attracted to the light, it becomes trapped between the metal bars, creating an electrical path that prevents subsequent "latches" from having an affective effect. At this point tons of mosquitoes dance around the blue light and none of them die. This happened after 2-3 hours of work. I then disassembled the base to clean and found that most of the bugs weren't actually dead, just incapacitated - the spark gap burned off some of their wings so they just couldn't escape. After cleaning it, only after 1-2 hours it was possible to return to the same situation. So maybe it works somewhere else. Not here…

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Expensive
