Premium for premium

Yes, Kuat NV 2.0 is expensive. However, you are transporting several hundred/thousand dollars on your bike(s) in a multi-thousand dollar car; so I think it's a bit unimportant. Right? About me: I like to think that I am an avid biker. but I am not. I ride for fun with my family and on Saturdays I try to hit the road. My wife and I ride fat bikes. I ride an XL frame and she rides an M. When I first started looking for a new rack, I needed a few features: no suspension, compatibility with fat bikes, and ease of use with bikes of different sizes. Kuat NV 2.0 meets all of these requirements. The stand is easy to assemble and even easier to attach for use. I tried several racks before purchasing the NV 2.0 and I like how the anti-shake mechanism works. I also appreciate that the mechanism doesn't fall apart or fall out of the rack. I bought a swing arm for my NV 2.0. I didn't use adjustable levels to allow the tailgate to open. When I need access to my rear cargo area, I fold the trunk to the side. I also didn't use the bike repair station that is part of the luggage rack. When using other luggage racks, my bike suffered damage to the CF frame. I'm happy to report that this bike rack has saved my bike from chafing when carrying bikes of the same or different sizes. Also, you don't have to worry about the tires spinning in the wind or hitting the back of the car. The bikes and trunk feel locked and secure. Also, with two girls in my family, it's nice to be able to carry their bikes with no extra parts to make up for the difference in frames. Same goes for my buddies when they bring their full suspension bikes. The build quality is simply excellent. All parts appear solid and of high quality. Components that need to move have smooth movement that feels professional! I've had the device for almost a year and I'm still amazed by the quality. My only complaint about this system is that it's HEAVY. I'm a big guy and can get tense, but I think that might be a limit for some people. I'd say it's just as heavy if not heavier than most racks that support four bikes (but it supports 2). I just ordered an add-on (a year later). I'll let you know when I get a chance to use it. I suppose this will make it too difficult for my wife to put it on the car without help. Overall I love this case and would recommend it to anyone who can lift it.

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product
