Review on DIYK 6 Counteract Balancing Beads Off Road by Michael Altayeb

Maybe they work for some.

I bought these to add to my R1200GSA when I needed to change tires during a BDR in New Mexico. Since I was swapping street tires for curbside off-road tires, I needed a way to account for supposedly unbalanced knobby tires. I decided to balance my rims at home with no tires installed, using beadwork for final road tire balancing. The bike felt good riding 1,700 miles to Karlovy Vary. I changed tires, collected the old sidewalls for recycling (a bit dirty, like easy-rolling sand) and decided to go away without adding sidewalls—just weight-balanced rims with new ones. tires mounted. The bike was fine for the remaining 2800 miles including high speed riding (90 mph+). From what I have found balancing your weighted rims leaves only one tire to balance and I have yet to find a motorcycle tire that is out of balance and needs the extra weight. The beads don't hurt other than extra work and mess when changing tires, but I haven't seen any noticeable improvement with use. They're cheap enough to try if you're having trouble balancing the wheels. tire combination. Maybe they work for you? I'm glad I tried them because now I know what I'm dealing with. If you have a TPMS module installed on your rim, balance the wheel first, then mount the tire and see the difference. My guess is that car tires may be less balanced than motorcycle tires, so YMMV!
