Review on Troy Lee Designs Ultra Protective by David Gibbs

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The size depends on your purpose of use, see below.

The first point is that I use it for airsoft, not for riding. This provides the best comfort and protection for 300 fps balls. You can feel it, but it doesn't hurt or leave a mark. Excluding unlined areas. Mainly lower waist. Lots of fast travel if you're unfamiliar with Airsoft, CQB, or Speedsoft. Like a paintball but with BBS. It's very difficult to fly. I recommend putting on a small shirt first to solve this problem. If you are comfortable, light and breathable, it tends to rise and not stay. All pads are non-removable or even easy to remove when it's time to wash. The sleeves should fall slightly. I'm 175 pounds, 5'7", average build and wear mostly medium sized shirts. I go to S/M. Although it's so tight it's hard to take it off, it's still noticeable when you pull a t-shirt over it. The pads resemble craft foam plus slightly thicker craft foam sewn into a jersey material with other foam. I have road bikes and quads and would recommend this for more than just that. Maybe extra. It's decent. I think it should be cheaper or better quality and design for the price. I hear the threads snap when I take them off. I wear small and medium sized shirts. I'm not a big guy. The armpits are gone too so you can air out. Good, but also makes it difficult to take off. If or when you put it on is fine, but putting it on and taking it off, especially when it's hot and sweaty, is a hassle. In conclusion, if you're a driver, you'll be fine, except that you'll have to get your back up from time to time. For other purposes, if you don't mind that it is not hidden, take one size larger than recommended.
