aquarium cleaner is good for water changes and makes them a lot easier without having to lift a heavy 5 gallon bucket to refill the aquarium. This is normal for gravel cleaners, it doesn't seem to have as much suction as some of the other gravel cleaners I've used. Another small issue is that the pump's on/off switch is closer to the outlet than to the pump itself, so if your tank is further away it will be difficult to turn it off. I had some issues with this initially as the extension would compress when pushed into gravel but all I had to do was tighten it and it was fine. I use a faucet/hose mounted cleaner that cleans gravel better with more suction, but I can only use it 9 months out of the year to hook it up to a hose from the outside (it doesn't fit our sink), in the winter it is the bee aquarium gravel cleaner must do a good job.
