Worth replacing the plastic straws

This gun is much better to use than the disposable straws that come with non-professional versions of Great Stuff. It's like trying to paint with your fingers instead of a brush. I was debating whether or not to buy this gun as I had already used a few cans of plastic straws and I thought most of my project was already done so I wasn't sure how useful it would be to me. Well, now I can say it was worth it. Professional Great Stuff cans last up to 10 times longer than non-professional cans with plastic straws. It's so convenient to use and stop the foam anytime instead of using up an entire can in minutes or throwing away the leftovers. This is really the difference between day and night in my workflow. And the control you get with this gun is about 1000 times better than a plastic straw. This means I use a lot less foam, it's a lot less messy, and I can take my time and apply the foam exactly where I want it and dispense just the right amount. One of the main uses for this gun is caulking and insulating the rim of the girder bays in my basement. The large and rigid design of this gun with the Great Stuff Pro can attached to it meant I had a hard time hitting many of the tight spots in my rim blasting project. But I tetris this thing in every possible spot before resorting to plastic straws or silicone sealant for small gaps. It's fairly obvious which areas have been gunned down, as they're clean and tidy with just the right amount of foam, while elsewhere there are big lumps of foam and a mess everywhere. The foam tends to stick to the end of the foam. shoot and build. I try to wipe it off if I use it before the foam sets, but I end up using a flathead screwdriver to scrape off the buildup from time to time. If you want to put the flexible hose on the barbs, you have to clean the tip very well, which can become a problem when the foam on the barbs hardens. I used an extension straw successfully once, but after that I had problems with the extension hose popping out of the barbs during use. I gave up that idea.
