Review on πŸ“‘ Enhanced Beltronics V955 Radar Detector for Advanced Detection by Joseph Katipally

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Like it but don't like it.

This is my first radar detector. While it works well, I'm not thrilled with the product. I decided to use it as a tool to help out of sight. He's doing it well enough. In situations where there is a speed trap, the cop IE will be stopped by the radar, it's probably 50/50 efficiency. In a situation where a cop is moving or better yet walking straight towards you on a dual carriageway I would lower this to 20/80 in favor of the cop. Out of range, which is about 1/4 mile at best. At 70 mph or a combined speed of 140 mph, that's a few seconds at best. In town you need to turn off the X sign, but almost every major department store will give you false K-band alerts. Teaching you to ignore the radar detector is no good. I will continue to use it for long distance travel where we cover large tracts of land in areas I am unfamiliar with. I would suggest that this device is only for this type of use and your behavior should be as follows. When you are exceeding the speed limit on a country road and get an alert, you will exceed the speed limit quickly and safely. Identify the problem and determine if it is right or wrong. On a recent trip of over 1200 miles in a few days, this provided the best protection. It was a bit of a hassle, but getting a ticket for 10 more is a waste of taxpayers' money and I cannot support a system designed to tax the driver and not prosecute real criminals. Speeding tickets have become the new tax baiting and my family's recent fine of being flagged for out of spec license plates when we weren't actually speeding is positive testament to me and why we bought this . We are safe drivers and in 25 years of driving there hasn't been a single ticket between us. Briefly, while driving in a remote area, we were passed by a faster car and stopped at that speed. They had local numbers so we think the cop realized we couldn't or didn't want to fight the fine. However, the speed at which we were stopped that they had on the radar was neither the speed we were going nor the speed at which we were let go. We have the impression that the policeman did us a favor, although we actually didn't drive 18 more than we should have. This radar detector costs about a 10 more ticket and is probably reasonably priced for the protection it offers. Significantly more expensive devices only double the effective detection range, this is the best device in its price range.
