I got a pine colored desk from a friend that didn't suit my home office. The surface of the table in question is also getting a bit old. Rather than agonize over fixing the top or looking for a replacement roof, I decided to give this one a try. I was very happy with the results. I carried a stapler to clip underneath so I wouldn't accidentally remove it every time I got up from my desk, and I bought a cheap disposable razor with snap-off tips so I could get it off. at the bottom. I'm having trouble with the corners as I've never done it before, but the corners don't stand out because of the color and I don't even notice it anymore. Luckily the important part came out perfect, the top and front edge of the table. The cost of 3'x5', the time it takes to install it alone and the results completely outweigh any potential benefits of refinishing or replacing this type of countertop entirely. I recommend it to my friends and they have all been impressed with the results.
