Very poor color quality

I have one of these built into my Canon TR4522. I handwritten the letter in red ink and made copies. The red ink is nothing like what came out of the printer. The ink in the printer is very noticeable, much darker, I've tried manipulating the printer settings to compensate for this but to no avail. Those cartridges were a waste of $55. I can't use these cartridges and now have to buy another brand.
