Ink cartridges currently cost more than printers and can get really expensive over time. Luckily, Brother replacement inks are a great and affordable alternative to OEM cartridges. In my experience they last as long (if not longer) than original Brother ink cartridges and I've never had a problem with my printer not recognizing them.
