I don't know why I didn't know straws had been around for so long, but I'm glad they have been around. These are the straws next to my 64 ounce bottle. (1.9L) and they're obviously even taller than the bottle, but there's nothing a simple reduction can fix. I almost went with the 11" straws but was afraid they wouldn't have enough room to refill the straw when I tried to close the main bottle cap. I didn't want it in a bottle where I had to open it and dig around to get it. If you have a very thick smoothie it can be difficult to suck out, you have to wait for it to soften a bit. Other than that, picking up other liquids/textures wasn't a problem.
