This seems to be a very popular system, but I've encountered a few issues that prospective buyers should be aware of. First, the product is well made and "for the most part" as advertised. However, I have a large colonial house with a two-car garage attached. The depth of the garage is approximately 25 feet. My kayak is an extra long fishing kayak that is 13 1/2 feet long and weighs 75 pounds. The problem is that the rope and pulley system is not designed to fully drop the kayak to the ground in such a deep garage. The next problem is that I have a rather large support beam that runs through my garage. The pulley system should be close to the ceiling. To install this properly I had to drill a two inch hole and run PVC pipe through it to avoid friction. The diameter doesn't matter to the structural integrity of the beam, but it was quite thick and required an expensive drill and a powerful (rented) hammer drill to get the job done. I do not recommend standing on the stairs with a hammer drill at an awkward angle that can easily break your wrists painfully. When all was said and done, there were still a few fixes to gloss over and a lot of escalation to deal with. If I had to do it again I would go with a J-hook mounting system or a simpler two swing out pulley system. Much luck.
