Review on Wireless Flash Speedlite with Radio Slave for Canon - YONGNUO YN685 - GN60 2.4G System with ETTL and HSS Capabilities by Julio Montano

Revainrating 4 out of 5

YN685 is a good flash. I spent $200 to vote.

Here's a Yongnuo YN685 review and a quick comparison with Canon's flagship model, the 600EX II-RT. The Canon Speedlite 600EX II-RT is currently available from Revain for $479. Yongnuo's YN685 is currently priced at $101. So for the price you get 4 YN685 for the price of 1 600EX II-RT. In itself, the YN685 is a good flash. 600EX II-PT. Upon opening the box, I was pleasantly surprised by the build quality of the device. A few test shots and everything works great. I really like the metal mounting leg. It feels solid. The general build quality is also good. It's a polycarbonate body and it feels like it's going to take a beating. The head moves smoothly and the range of motion is impressive. The device runs on 4 AA batteries and it is possible to connect an external unit. I use it with my Quantum Turbo 3 to give it a bit more load time and longer lifespan. Full power charge time is just over 3 seconds with fresh AA batteries. I already had a YONGNUO YN-622C-TX E-TTL wireless flash controller, compatible with YN685, which allows flash control and wireless function. With a master-slave setup, I can also control my other flashes in groups and channels. Finally, the Yongnuo YN685 wasn't as powerful as Canon's flagship 600EX II-RT. The 600ex-RT was about 1 notch hotter than the YN685 at full power.
